Ocean Breeze

So as some of you already know we moved to Newport Beach, Orange County a couple of weeks ago. While we had fun times in Los Angeles we missed the calm and peacefulness of the ocean. We are loving our new beach home so far and we are so thankful. One of the great parts about living in Orange County now is that Lovebirds can easily capture weddings in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego! (Of course we are always available for travel as well) We are looking forward to new opportunities on the coast this year!

We have been so busy capturing many beautiful weddings this season. I will find the time this week to post new films for you all to see what we’ve been working on lately!

With Love,

Nikki & Noah

Jamie + Alex | Palm Beach, FL

Back in January we captured Jamie and Alex’s day of love and celebration on the beach in Palm Beach, FL and have yet to share it with all of you! I (Nikki), cried while editing most of this footage, what inspiring love they share. Enjoy their memories!

embracing it all….

hello all!
We have been oh so busy with the holidays, work, and traveling! I will be heading back to CA from NY in a few days after a great month long visit. I’m looking forward to editing many beautiful weddings we just shot. I truly love working in the wedding film industry…. I get a glimpse of every couples unique love, I get the energy that radiates off of them, I get to capture the intimacy of first dances and the emotions of their day of promises. I get so pumped for their future, knowing how beautiful marriage is. Every wedding is uniquely inspiring in it own way. We are so thankful to be swamped with so much work right now. It’s more of an honor to be part of someones wedding than it is “work”, so thank you to all our wonderful brides for letting us be part of your day!
While I am busy with weddings, Noah is busy editing the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Which is a large surf contest held in Hawaii every year. The office he’s working at is near the coast so its been a challenge for him dredging through traffic everyday, but he’s getting use to it and that gives him the chance to surf before work. He has a slew of other projects he’s been working on as well: snowboard documentary, EPK’s, surfing documentary, short film, etc. We’ve been soaking up nights and weekends together since Noah has such a busy schedule right now.
I’ve had some time lately to sit back and reflect. Time flies!!  West Palm will always hold a piece of me, its where Noah and I fell in love, where I met all my lovely gals and so many memories blossomed. I cherish all my friends and experiences there, always. Right now, I’m in this new chapter of my life where I really don’t know whats going to happen next…and I kinda like it, its exhilarating. I’m trying not to focus on planning the future but rather savoring the moments of life that unfold everyday. Organizing the future is exhausting and I find myself disappointed as it never plays out as anticipated. When you live in the moment you live more fully…embracing it all.
So with this new year I am going to be taking a yoga teacher training that I’m really excited about. I’m so thankful that I am able to do this for myself. I’m anxious to learn not only more of the physical benefits of yoga but also the philosophy. I’ve notice a difference in my own attitude towards life and people since I began practicing but I’m looking forward to digging deep into my emotions and heart and dealing with more deeply the joys, pains, excitement, grief, love, and truth of life. I know its going to be a growing experience that stretches me in many ways- physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. More to come!

love,

first year.

Hello friends and family!

We celebrated our first year of marriage this past Monday. We started the day with breakfast and coffee and then packed the car up for our eventful day. We drove about 20 minutes to a hiking area near by. We hiked up this beautiful mountain with our walking sticks and backpack full of food that Noah prepared. We stopped along the way and ate our fruit and chicken salads while watching squirrels scurry and listening to only the sound of a wood peckers peck. Being in the woods always reminds me of my childhood, building tree forts and raking the leaves off the dirt to sprinkle potpourri. Here I was all grown up with my husband and still enjoying it with the wonders of a child. When we  finally reached the top of the mountain there was a water fall, it doesn’t rain much in California so it wasn’t very big, but it was still beautiful.

We set up a blanket near the waterfall, enjoyed some delicious wine and reminisced what we were doing at that same time last year. What an incredible day it was with all our friends and family together, who knows when everyone will be together like that again. We layed in our past for a while and then as we began our hike down we dreamed of our future. What would our kids be like someday? What would there interests be? Enjoying our conversation, we wound up hiking a bit to far down the mountain and had to hike back up to get to our car!

After our hiking adventure we headed to the beach! Noah surfed with his cute wet suit on and I layed on the beach and soaked up some sun. After an hour we then headed to a sushi restaurant in the area where my parents had gotten us a gift card for. The place was beautiful and we devoured some delicious sushi! We tried sake for the first time and it was pretty good!

We came home to have our wedding cake, which by now was only a slice that had traveled with us across the country, so it wasn’t too tastey, Noah enjoyed it though! We popped some champagne and I frolicked around in my wedding dress!

california sunshine.

hello friends!

we are finally all settled in to our new california home! we had packed up all our life in to a 6 x 7 x 8 pod and began our four day drive from florida to california with a leap of faith. it was most certainly a long, long, long drive but we loved seeing some beautiful parts of this world together. noah drove the entire way, his second dream job was to be a truck driver, i’m not kidding! our kittie, roxie, was such a good girl and slept the entire way and our pup, clarity, was panting away the whole time and wouldn’t sleep a bit…. so eventually i had to give her a tranquilizer to calm her down, she fought it and wanted to stay awake, i’ll post a video later of her falling asleep standing up 🙂

but eventually we made it to cali! we had never seen our new apartment in person but we were pleasantly surprise when we saw it, it was bigger than expected…in fact, its the perfect size for us and we LOVE it. i will post some photos later of everything. we had our great friends pete, bryan, and ben to welcome us the first night.

nikki’s mom came to visit us shortly after we arrived so they got to do some exploring together. we went to our local farmers market, bike rides, shopping in downtown pasadena, griffith park, santa monica pier, newport beach, a Japanese surf contest, and the americana for more shopping. it was great to have her here to spend time together and for her to see our new home. we love the area, there’s always something new to do and the weather is beautiful!

noah has been busy working with an action sports production company in santa monica as well as working on editing projects with his company voda films. we are more than thankful that he already has work out here. he goes surfing almost every morning before work near manhattan beach so he is for sure loving that 🙂 i’ve been working from home on lovebirds film, which is our wedding film company.  i’ve been cooking, practicing yoga,  and adjusting to a slower paced life for right now. sometimes its hard to be okay with stillness and quietness when you are use to a fast pace lifestyle, but i’m trying to enjoy it because you don’t have many moments like that in life.

we’ve been spending time with some of our friends that we went to school with in florida that now live in california. noahs brother, luke, and wife, jenny live close by so its been great hanging out with them too. finally, the brothers are back in the same state 🙂

we are enjoying the chill in the air and embracing this new, exciting, scary adventure together. we are celebrating our one year anniversary on the 26th, its been an amazing journey this past year together. we’ve gone through a lot of changes in just one year but we’ve held on to each others hand throughout it all.  love you all.
